A fjord-side town fifteen minutes west of Oslo, and the school that will host one hundred delegates for two days of debate in May 2026.
Sandvika
Akademiet Sandvika is an independent upper-secondary school in the centre of Sandvika, part of the Akademiet network of schools across Norway. Its students study a mixture of Norwegian and international curricula, and the school has a longstanding involvement in academic competitions, debate, and student-led initiatives. Akademiet MUN 2026 is the school's first formally hosted Model United Nations conference — organised, chaired, and run by its students.
The conference will be held across the school's main building and adjacent facilities, with all three committees, plenary sessions, and ceremonies taking place on a single connected campus.
Sandvika is the administrative centre of Bærum, the municipality immediately west of Oslo. It sits where the Sandvikselva river meets the inner Oslofjord — a small, walkable town of around 14,000 residents, with a restored old quarter, a modern shopping district, and direct fjord access. Bærum as a whole is one of Norway's most prosperous municipalities and home to a number of international institutions, embassies' residences, and corporate headquarters.
Despite its size, Sandvika punches above its weight for visitors: it is quiet enough to feel like a town in its own right, and connected enough to Oslo that delegates can be in the capital in the time it takes to read this paragraph.
Sandvika is about 13 kilometres west of central Oslo, and is one of the best-connected towns in the country.
For delegates travelling from outside the Oslo region, two options are most common.
Specific recommendations and any negotiated rates will be communicated to registered schools in advance of the conference.
For delegates with time before or after the conference, Sandvika and the surrounding area repay a short visit.
